In this book we have encountered a variety of different settings in one general area. We first began the story in in what seemed to be a laboratory with "Water that bubbled through tubes that snaked around the warm, humid walls. A dull red light shone on the faces of the workers as they watched their own arrays of little glass dishes" (Page 2). Then we travelled to the little house in the poopy fields where the main character Matt lived. Furthermore, after being badly injured Matt was taken the Alacrán Estate with a large scorpion basking in the entrance of the mansion also known as the big house. From there he is thrown onto the lawn after everyone finds out that he is a "filthy" clone and then taken to two cells one in a dark hallway with a cold cement floor and a bed (which is soon taken away) and a bucket. In addition the second cell was like a chicken coop with sawdust lining the floor. And finally so far in the book he is taken to a room within the big house where he lives with tim lan and Ceilia. All of this is taken place in a country called Opium between the borders of the United States and Mexico and I believe that this story takes place in the future because people are being cloned and not only animals but humans as well that have chips implanted into their brain's.

Your blog post on setting described where the plot has taken place very well. I think you may want to read over your post before posting it as it says "Then we travelled to the little house in the poopy fields where the main character Matt lived." Great job on including specific details from the book!
ReplyDeleteYour description for all the settings is fantastic. If you haven't read the book before you could really get an idea of the setting just by reading your post. However, this post is mostly feels like a summary and doesn't really have that much opinion to it. You should definitely add some things about how you feel about the setting, and you feel it has effected the story line and so on. Also, I didn't know that Matt lived in a house in the "poopy" fields. I thought it was poppy fields. Might want to fix that...
